Penny Dreadful is getting a new date. Now debuting on Sunday, May 3
rd the sophomore year of the Showtime genre drama “will find Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) and Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett) forming a deeper bond as the group, including Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton), Dr. Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway), and Sembene (Danny Sapani), unite to banish the evil forces that threaten to destroy them. Along with the series regulars, Patti Lupone will guest star as a significant person from Vanessa’s past, and Helen McCrory will reprise her role as the arresting spiritualist and will become a great force of opposition to the group.
Though the premise of the show sounded terribly hokey and potentially disastrous, the first season of
Penny Dreadful was an unexpected surprise and quickly became an engaging and thrilling viewing experience full of captivating performances, impeccable production design and an engaging narrative. Here’s hoping that season two will be even better.
