Academy Award nominee Stanley Tucci is the newest big name added to the list for Joe Johnston's Captain America: The First Avenger. Tucci will play Dr. Abraham Erskine, the man who develops the serum that gives Steve Rogers (aka Captain America -- played by Chris Evans) his super soldier ability.
Tucci joins Evans, Hayley Atwell, Hugo Weaving, Toby Jones, Tommy Lee Jones, Sebastian Stan and most recently Neil McDonough in Marvel's anticipated July 2011 film.
Erskine was a German born doctor in the original comics, which is interesting consider the story takes place during World War II. Tucci will carry that weight very well, even though his best roles are the ones where he can wield wit and charm. It's too early to tell if those skills will be useful in this film. Check out Erskine's Marvel Wiki to learn more, just be warned that there's a lot of information with regards to his plot line on there.
