Adam Beach has been added to the cast of Jon Favreau’s upcoming film Cowboys and Aliens, according to Variety. He will portray a half-Apache named Nat Colorado. The film also stars Daniel Craig, Paul Dano, Academy Award nominee Harrison Ford, and Olivia Wilde. Based on the popular graphic novel of the same name, “Cowboys” centers on Western settlers and Apache Indians setting aside their differences when a spaceship unexpectedly arrives in the 1870s.
Perhaps Beach’s most famous role was in Clint Eastwood’s Academy Award-nominated film Flags of Our Fathers. In 2007, Beach was nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance in the television film Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee.
Portraying Native Americans is what Beach is perhaps most notable for, such as in the aforementioned Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee. Even so, this is perhaps the most high profile role that Beach has had, despite being in the industry for twenty years. It is uncertain as to if he will have a huge Hollywood breakthrough, but if this role helps him become a bigger name, then it will be well deserved.Cowboys and Aliens is scheduled for release on July 29, 2011.
