NBC Halts Production on Constantine
It is official; the first season of NBC’s
Constantine will be a trim thirteen episode run. Production on the supernatural series was halted after the initial thirteen episodes were wrapped. The show will remain airing in its Friday, 10 P.M. time slot. Though this might not seem like good news (and it isn’t) there is still an option for the show to come back for a second season.
Though
Constantine hasn’t been the ratings breakout that NBC had probably hoped for, it has managed to hold on to a respectable portion of its lead-in’s (Grimm) audience and has shown an increase in viewership as well as promising DVR numbers. As an established brand,
Constantine comes with a built in fan base the network surely want to exploit, which explains NBC’s resistance of getting rid of the show altogether.
If the ratings for
Constantine continue to tick upwards, then a renewal might actually be a viable possibility.
Executive producer, Daniel Cerone took to Twitter to encourage viewers to tune in and reassure fans that things are looking good for the freshman series.
Are you watching Constantine? Disappointed we’ll only get thirteen episodes?
