Mortal Kombat was released for the Xbox 360 and PS3 in the first quarter of the year but already Warner Brothers Interactive is reaping the benefits. According to Warner Brothers, Mortal Kombat has sold over three million copies worldwide. This beats the record set by Capcom’s Marvel Vs Capcom 3, which sold two million units.
"We are very pleased with the success of Mortal Kombat, as it surpassed our expectations," said WB Interactive president Martin Tremblay. "We'd like to thank our entire team and all of our partners for their innovative campaigns and tremendous support of Mortal Kombat, as the game sales continue to grow."
"The game was a labor of love for us and we could not be more pleased with
its performance," said Ed Boon, the game's creative director. "Fan
reaction to this latest installment has made all of our hard work worth
it."
