Everything You Need to Know About Resident Evil Revelations 2
"Find out all the juicy details on what to expect in the upcoming survival horror game"
You've probably heard by now that a sequel to the highly regarded spinoff title,
Resident Evil Revelations has been announced recently.
Resident Evil Revelations 2 is coming early 2015 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC but not on 3DS where the original title was first released. Anyway, we know now what the setting of the new game is; as well as some familiar faces returning.
Claire Redfield will return after appearing in previous entries including
Resident Evil 2 and
Code Veronica and will star alongside Moira Burton, the daughter of Barry Burton from the original game. Claire works for Terra Save, a company that combats bio threats around the world and will welcome Moira to the company. However quickly they are both kidnapped and wake up on a mysterious island and soon start to encounter some rather strange beings in true
Resident Evil fashion.
More interesting is the way the game will be distributed is something of a first for the series. It will be released as four weekly episodes (which can be purchased individually or as a set) and will have cliffhangers like a TV show. The previous game was split up in small sections due to being on a handheld, designed to play in smaller sessions so it’s interesting how this will translate to consoles.
An episode will cost $5.99 or you can buy the complete season digitally for $24.99 which will include extra content that is yet to be announced. Also you could wait for the disc that will cost $39.99 and will include everything the digital version has plus even more; also yet to be announced.
I find this to be a rather confusing and strange way to release the game. I can see what they’re trying to do and as long as the episodes are actually weekly and not say monthly like Telltale typically releases then it could work. Though I still think I’d rather just wait and play it on disc. Whatever option you chose, it is great that the highly underrated
Resident Evil Revelations is getting a sequel and along with the upcoming remake of the original game there sure is a lot to look forward to for the franchise in the coming months.
