First Look: ‘The Rock’ as Roadblock in ‘G.I. Joe 2’
Say what you will about a sequel to 2009's
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, but you can't knock Paramount for casting
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The wrestler-turned-action-star began filming
G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation today and
tweeted an image of himself all strapped-up as
Roadblock.
It might just be this scene, but it's almost refreshing to see that the "modern" sleek black costumes from the first film have been put aside. Camouflage doesn't have to be lame, folks. Anyway, Johnson clearly sports Roadblock's bulk utility vest, but that's all I can tell from the character based on my Googling. Presumably, all anyone cares is that The Rock kicks some ass in this movie.
G.I. Joe 2: Retalilation is being directed by
Jon Chu from a script written by
Zombieland duo
Rhett Reese and
Paul Wernick. Johnson co-stars with
RZA as the Blind Master,
Ray Stevenson as Firefly,
Adrianne Palicki as Lady Jaye,
Walton Goggins and returning cast members
Channing Tatum,
Ray Park and
Byung Hun-lee. There's also a chance that
Bruce Willis plays the original "G.I. Joe" Colton.
"Retaliation" comes out next year on June 29.
