Some new details regarding the sequel to everyone's favorite loot-infested treasure trove have been revealed. The folks at Gearbox Software and 2K Games are teaming up once again to expand upon 2009's unique take on the action RPG formula.
Like the first game, Borderlands 2 will feature 4-player co-op, but without the original cast. Instead, a whole new set of characters will be playable, including the short but stout gentleman below, revealed to be the Gunzerker, a class that can wield any weapon in the game inventory. Don't worry though, the Siren, Hunter, Soldier, and Beserker are promised to appear in the sequel as NPCs (Here's to the Interplanetary Ninja Assassin Claptrap returning).
Some of the other changes include new enviroments, enemies, improved AI, loot (How could they not), and customizable weaponry. Perhaps the largest change known thus far lies in the dynamic story missions, which promise to deliver a more consistent dose of plot to fans of the universe's lore. All of this is pretty standard sequel fodder, but fans of the original will be excited nonetheless.
Borderlands 2 will be attracting all the "misinformed zombie fodder" in 2K Games' fiscal year 2013 (Starting April 2012) and will be on display at Gamescom in Germany from August 17th through August 21st and PAX Prime from August 26th through the 28th. Hopefully any of the additional details revealed at the above locations do not involve or mention anything resembling a continuation of Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot.
