Tom Clancy’s The Division Now Slated for 2015 Release

Gearing up for E3 next month Ubisoft issued a few press releases touting Watch Dogs and revealing that Far Cry 4 is in the works.  However, tucked away in the news section for Tom Clancy's The Division website another piece of newsworthy information surfaced; the game won't see release until 2015.
"Today we announced that Tom Clancy's The Division will be available in 2015 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC," said the news post.

Though the news many come as some surprise this close to E3, the story broke earlier this year by GameReactor.

According to GameReactor's source within the development studio of Massive Entertainment the expected 2014 launch of The Division was unrealistic for the game's development cycle.  Despite Ubisoft vaguely insisting during E3 2013 that The Division would be available for next-generation consoles the following year; the furthest aspect of the game's development has been the Snowdrop Engine, not the game itself.
"The game engine works well, it's not done but works well. The actual game development has barely started, however," said the developer source to GameReactor.

Now that the game is officially expected to release during 2015, confirming GameReactor's reporting a ghost of GDCs past also comes to roust further bolstering the initial claims from the developer source.  Very little gameplay has been shown in the videos produced since E3 last year.  The greatest aspect of the game's development which has been shown off has been the Snowdrop Engine.

Almost two months ago to the day we published a story from Ubisoft's GDC presentations which took us behind the scenes of the game's development.  Though the behind the scenes video took us into the studio at Massive Entertainment, the Snowdrop Engine provided the subject matter, rather than the game.
Though no date has been stamped to the 2015 release schedule for Tom Clancy's The Division we fully expect to learn more about the title next month during E3.
