Christopher Meloni and Julia Ormond Negotiating for Roles in ‘Man of Steel’

Despite the numerous casting decisions made for Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel,  some roles in the Superman reboot still need to be filled, and it seems that two thespians more synonymous with television than the silver screen are making their way into the film.

Emmy Award nominee Christopher Meloni and Emmy Award winner Julia Ormond are both in negotiations for roles in “Steel.” Deadline Hollywood reports that Ormond will play Lara Lor-Van, the biological mother of Superman, if negotiations go as planned. Unfortunately, there’s nothing known about Meloni’s role just yet.

This is the first film role that Meloni has negotiated for since leaving Law and Order: Special Victims Unit last month. Additionally, this will serve as the most high-profile film that he’s ever starred in, if he ends up officially hopping onboard to star. Meanwhile, Ormond plays the legendary Vivien Leigh in Simon Curtis’s Marilyn Monroe biopic – and likely Oscar contender – My Week with Marilyn, due to hit theaters in the U.S. on November 4.

Man of Steel
, starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane is still aiming at a release in December of 2012 with filming to begin shortly.
