Paul Walker in Fast and Furious 7 as CGI and Body Doubles
After the tragic death of Paul Walker last November, Universal Pictures and Director James Wan (
Insidious) have been trying to figure out the best means of moving forward with the project. The New York Daily News is reporting that they plan using both body doubles and CGI, in order to move forward with filming for the rest of
Fast and Furious 7.
This isn't the first time a major star has been replaced by a body double or CGI, after the star has passed away. Back in 1994, Brandon Lee was accidentally shot on the set of Alex Proyas'
The Crow, who was replaced by a body double in a few scenes. After the recent death of Phillip Seymore Hoffman, the production of
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay had decided to use a CGI rendition of Hoffman, in order to fulfill his remaining three scenes.
Its certainly a tough call to make for Wan and Universal, in order to finish the production of
Fast 7, but it makes a lot of sense regardless. The production is set to resume again in April, in order to make its release date of April 10th of 2015.
