300 Sequel takes in Box Office Glory

This past weekend box office reigned in blood, as 300: Rise of an Empire managed to take the top spot in theaters. Opening at a healthy $45 million in the U.S., the sequel to Frank Miller's 300 was a major success, knocking off Liam Neeson's Non-Stop, Son of God and The Lego Movie down a few spots. Another film that managed to do well was Dreamworks Animation's rendition of Mr. Peabody and Sherman, which managed to take in $32 million. Here are the top five grossing films for the first week of March.

1. 300: Rise of an Empire - $45 Million

2. Mr. Peabody and Sherman - $32 Million

3. Non-Stop - $15 Million

4. The LEGO Movie - $10.9 Million

5. Son of God - $10.3 Million

Each of the films managed to rake in tons of money across the globe as well, as reported by BoxOffice.com. Films like Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel and Hayao Miyazaki's The Wind Rises have also done well, for films released in limited screenings. March has a few other big hits coming out in the next few weeks, with films like Need for Speed, Divergent, Noah and Muppets Most Wanted.
