Announced a couple of months ago, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record is essentially the director's cut of the original Dead Rising 2. It originally started out as an upgrade with more content and Chuck as the main character but due to the fan outcry of Frank not being in the original, Capcom saw fit to make him the new lead character for Off The Record. There’s a new theme park area included as well as new combo weapons, brand new bosses, and the photography mechanic will make a return.
Dead Rising 2: Off The Record is not canon for the series, it was described as taking place in a parallel universe. The saving system has been completely redone for this game, frequent checkpoints will be given after every mission and more importantly; before boss encounters. This is easily the best addition as the save system was, without a doubt the one thing everyone had a problem with in Dead Rising. Co-op is also confirmed with the second player controlling Chuck. Dead rising 2: off the record is set for release this fall for Xbox 360 and PS3.
