Monolith are confirmed as the developer for Gotham City Impostors, a download-only first person shooter where players fight for control of Gotham City. The game will supposedly have an exaggerated take on first person shooters - Take that for what you will, but I think it’s safe to assume kill streaks won't be found anywhere.
In-depth details are thin on the ground as of now but we know that there will be a heavy emphasis on customising your characters. Taking the form of unique costumes and “homebrewed” gadgets, it sounds like they are really aiming for a comic feel with the game. Homebrewed gadgets sounds pretty interesting, will we be able to create our own actual tools, or just customise the ones that are in game? Either way, given the current market for shooters, this certainly sounds like it’s doing everything it can to set itself apart.
Monolith studios are responsible for the FEAR and Condemned series amongst others, and they sure know how to create an immersive world that is dripping in atmosphere. That makes them a very good choice for this kind of material, more info on this cannot come soon enough. No release date has been announced, but the game is confirmed for Xbox, PS3 and PC.
