GDC 2011 saw the first live demo of Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception that was outside of developer Naughty Dog's walls. This demonstration was complete with stereoscopic 3D and featured the “burning chateau” sequence that premiered in late December of last year. 3D presentation was chosen to display the game's terrific graphics and to compliment the progress with development. Like other newly-released games, players will be able to benefit from the added realism of 3D and achieve a more intimate experience in Uncharted 3. Game mechanics such as aiming around corners and finding cover will be more accurately portrayed. Combining this premium option with the already impressive combat featured in the game, the developers at Naughty Dog are sure to deliver an unparalleled action adventure.
The press event also unveiled the game's new villain, a Katherine Marlowe, who is rumored to be quite the adversary—albeit not in the usual way. Marlowe will assume position of the game's central antagonist who will attempt to foil Nathan Drake and Victor Sullivan throughout the story. Unlike Drake's past foes, Katherine is more of a cerebral opponent who will utilize both psychological and physical tactics to instill her will... along with the usual small army of highly-trained mercenaries and agents of course. She is the leader of a secret society that dates back over 400 years to the court of Queen Elizabeth I, and has a long-standing rivalry with Nathan Drake over Sir Francis Drake's ring—the ring that Nathan wears around his neck. Players can expect the action in the game to get really ugly as this cold new rival takes aim at our treasure-hunting duo. Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception ships this holiday season.
