In the ongoing drama over the Jason West and Vince Zampella lawsuit with Activision, Activision has launched a whole new mud slinging campaign against West and Zampella's integrity, as well as including Electronic Arts in their lawsuit. They say that EA, West, and Zampella conspired together to sabotage Treyarch, keep money for themselves that should've gone to their employees, and make a new company to rival Call of Duty.
Specifically, West had Infinity Ward release a promotional video for Modern Warfare 2 every time Treyarch released a trailer for a World at War map pack. Then, West and Zampella refused to give Activision lists of employees at Infinity Ward that deserved millions of dollars of Activision stock grants, and said Activision should just give them the stock grants. Finally, CAA Agent Seamus Blackley allegedly sent Zampella and West an email saying "JR (John Riccitiello) cooks a mean BBQ. I think we could accomplish some interesting chaos."
This is all from Activision's point of view, of course. Activision now wants at least $400 million from Electronic Arts, prompting EA to shoot down Activision's claims as "petty". Jason West and Vince Zampella's attorney has stated that "Activision's filing is a pathetic mash-up of false and reckless assertions, designed only to delay the march to justice for Jason West and Vince Zampella. But what else would you expect from a company that doesn't let the truth get in it's way."
So, Activision has decided to take the low road here and try to win this lawsuit in any way they can, honorable or not. One can only hope that Jason West and Vince Zampella don't go down this route, too.
