Gemma Arterton to meet with Ridley Scott about “Alien” prequel

With the Alien prequel due to be released next year it will be in need of some stars. British actress Gemma Arterton has revealed that she will be meeting Sir Ridley Scott to discuss starring in the reboot of the franchise. It is believed the central character will be similar to Ellen Ripley, keeping the series trait of a strong female character.

However, according to MTV Movies Blog, Arterton’s publicist has said there’s no truth to the meeting with Scott, but this could be a part of a misinformation campaign and Arterton simply spoke too prematurely about the meeting.

The prequel was written by Jon Spaithts and is currently being rewritten by Lost creator Damon Lindelof.

Arterton’s reputation is rising after starring in Quantum of Solace, Clash of the Titans and The Disappearance of Alice Creed. Arterton has show both comic talent and toughness in her roles. She has done very well in her 24 years on the planet.

Her next film is the comedy Tamara Drewe, directed by Stephen Frears (The Queen), and releasing this Friday in the UK and October 8 in the USA. Future roles for Arterton are Richard E. Grant’s "cowboy film" In With the Outlaws with Gabriel Byrne and Timothy Spall and an adaptation of Ruth Rendell’s novel The Keys of the Street, which is being developed by Christopher Nolan.
