The next chapter in the hugely successful Metal Gear Solid series now has a release date. Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is tentatively scheduled for release in Spring 2014 and is coming to Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Ground Zeroes of course will tie together with the next full MGS title, MGS V: The Phantom Pain. Now we know a little more about what that will entail.
Hideo Kojima has said “The advanced capabilities of the FOX Engine have allowed me to tell the new story in a new way. There will be a significant difference in what Metal Gear Solid : The Phantom Pain brings to the series, so we want to ease players into the new open world environment and its potential. As such, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes has been designed to introduce key elements, allowing them to fully benefit from all that the new game will offer.”
Ground Zeroes will feature one mission that “charts a rescue mission as users infiltrate a Cuban prison camp, and sets in motion a series of events that culminate in the stunning plotlines of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.” The game will cost $19.99 (£19.99) on current platforms and $29.99 (£29.99) on next gen consoles. Even if this does sound suspiciously like a glorified demo before the next real installment, any new MGS is always an exciting prospect.
