Fighting game fans have been waiting for new information about Capcom's newest Street Fighter IV update, Ultra Street Fighter IV. Many rumors and leaks have surfaced in recent days and weeks about new gameplay additions, but turns out most of them were true. Capcom's Peter "Combofiend" Rosas shows off the new additions along with more announcements in the video below.
The first big new gameplay addition is another option for ultra moves called Ultra Combo Double. This option allows players to have both ultras at their disposal when their revenge meter lights up instead of choosing one of two. The catch is that these ultras will do less damage than the other options, but opens the door for new opportunities and changes up character matchups. The other addition demonstrated in the video above is the Red Focus Attack. Unlike the regular focus attack that is a staple of the Street Fighter IV series, the red focus can absorb multiple hits at the cost of meter. However, the red focus attack can still be broken the same ways the normal one does.
Also announced in the video are location tests for the latest build of the game that will feature these new gameplay mechanics. Dates and locations however are still unknown for now, but with the Capcom Cup in December featuring Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition Ver. 2012, Street Fighter X Tekken, and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, that is likely one of the spots to try the new update out. Fan feedback is still a big deal for Capcom with these location tests, so let them know what you think of Ultra Street Fighter IV so far.
Ultra Street Fighter IV comes out sometime next year for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC. These new gameplay additions make you excited to keep playing or come back to the game? Let us know in the comments below.
