Good news 30 Rock fans. FOX has emerged triumphant in a multi-network bidding war for a new multi-camera comedy from 30 Rock’s creative minds, Tina Fey, Matt Hubbard, and Robert Carlock. The project has been given a series commitment at the network and will be set in a women’s college that for the first time in its history begins accepting male students. The series comes from Universal Television where Hubbard, Fey and Carlock are under overall deals, as well as from Fey’s Little Stranger.
Hubbard will be writing the script and will also be executive producing along with Fey, Carlock and David Miner. Hubbard was a writer for 30 Rock’s entire seven-season run and served as co-executive producer for the last four years. He was awarded an Emmy for writing for the series in 2009 and was nominated twice following that. Hubbard is definitely one of the leading voices of the critically acclaimed comedy and it will be interesting to see how the characteristic humor of a series like 30 Rock will translate into a multi-cam project. The creative group behind the project certainly knows how to create a quality television program and with a series commitment for the new show FOX is counting on them repeating their previous success.
