It appears that Orange is the New Black, a new show exclusive to Netflix subscribers, appears to be the hottest thing around as of late, as it beat out Arrested Development in the ratings. Everyone knows how much fans were looking forward to season four of Arrested Development, and how many people hurried to watch it just after it was released, right? Well, it looks like somehow, even after all that hype, a new show seemingly unmentioned until recently has received higher ratings. Orange is the New Black tells the story of Piper Chapman, a woman who is sent to prison as a result of her relationship with a drug smuggler. The series runs for a hour and seems to be the perfect blend of drama and comedy.
Somehow, it also appears that the show's ratings are actually a little unclear, making it difficult to gauge the situation, but what we do know is that it beat out Arrested Development in terms of the amount of people that watched the show in the first week after its release. Since the exact numbers have not been calculated quite yet, it is hard to know for certain, but what we do know is that there were thousands upon thousands that tuned in for season four of Arrested Development. In terms of TV in general, this is a sign that Netflix has just become a major contender in the television market, and other networks may want to watch out.
