Sega have announced that the Japanese rhythm game, Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F, will be heading to North America this August.
The release, which will be available on PlayStation 3 via a digital PSN download or through the traditional retail channel, will mark the North American game debut for digital singer Miku.
According to a post on the PlayStation blog by Sega’s Associate Brand Manager, Aaron Webber, “Being the first console game released for the franchise in the West, Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F will include all of the updated graphics, additional songs, and features of the Japanese version."
This will include all 38 of the available tracks voiced by Miku and her pals and ‘Edit Mode,’ which allows players to make their own Miku videos. Players will also be able to customise Miku with over 90 costumes available and 100 accessories.
For those who don’t know who the game’s star, Hatsune Miku is, ‘she’ is a digital singer made by fellow creators of Project Diva F, Crypton Future Media. An entirely fictional pop star, her voice is fabricated by Yamaha’s Vocaloid technology and her popularity in Japan is pretty fierce.
As well as video games, Miku has also taken part in live shows across the world, where a holographic image is used to project the make believe singer. In 2011 she sold out the Los Angeles Theater in a very short space of time, showing that her popularity is not just confided to her home country.
A demo version of Project Diva F, will be available later this month, whilst a European release date for the game has yet to be announced.
