Criminal Justice, a new HBO drama, has been set to air as a limited series. The show will star James Gandolfini, who gained much of his popularity from the previous hit HBO show The Sopranos. It will be directed by Oscar winner Steve Zaillian, who is responsible for writing a number of hit films, including Schindler's List and Gangs of New York. He will also co-write the show with Richard Price; the show was originally set up to be a drama series, but it is now being restructured as a limited series.
Criminal Justice is a crime drama, set in New York, loosely based on a BBC series of the same name created by Peter Moffat. James Gandolfini will play the role of a New York City attorney who gets more than he bargained for when he takes on the case of a Pakistani, played by Riz Ahmed, who is accused of murdering a girl on the Upper West Side. This series will also feature Bill Camp, Payman Maadi and Poorna Jagannathan. The updated news for this limited series event comes just months after HBO had passed on the pilot. With Gandolfini's previous success with HBO, it is hard to believe that they would pass on a show like this, and there is no doubt that fans of the genre and of The Sopranos will be tuning in for this limited series.
