Splinter Cell: Blacklist Announced for Wii U

A Nintendo press release today unveils that a Wii U version of Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist exists.

Nintendo today complied a list of games detailing what third-party titles are coming out soon for Wii U and detailed them within a press release. Many previously known games were on the list like Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut, Resident Evil Revelations, Injustice: Gods Among Us, Sniper Elite 2, DuckTales Remastered, and Fast & Furious Showdown. However, headlining the list were Rayman Legends’ challenge mode, Disney’s Planes, and Splinter Cell Blacklist.

Ubisoft soon after sent out a press release detailing the Wii U version. The Gamepad will function as Sam Fisher’s OpSat, which will allow drones to be controlled via the touch screen. Sticky cams will also be enhanced on Wii U, allowing the player to view what’s on the camera while keeping full control on the TV. Smaller functions such as switching weapons/gadgets or marking enemies for the game’s Killing in Motion can also utilize the Gamepad.

This is the second big title that Ubisoft oddly neglected to announce for Wii U. When Watch_Dogs was announced in February for the Playstation 4, only within its press release did we finally know that a Wii U version was officially in the works.

The Wii U version will launch alongside the PC, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3 versions on August 20th.
