In case you missed it the first time around, NBC will re-air the first episode of its new series Hannibal this Wednesday night at 10pm. While the show’s debut last week on the feared Thursday night at 10 timeslot wasn’t absolutely dreadful (4.3 million viewers and a 1.6 rating among adults 18-49), the ratings could definitely use some improvement. The network really wants this show to be a hit, and this desire is understandable. The cast is top-notch and the series itself has been getting terrific reviews. The critical acclaim might help draw in viewers that were initially put off by another serial killer drama, especially one following the semi-hype of The Following. NBC is definitely taking steps to expose the series to as many people as possible, and this re-airing might make people tune in and find that they like the new drama and want to come back for more.
Hannibal, the newest incarnation of the famous franchise, focuses on the relationship between FBI investigator Will Graham and forensic psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter. Based on the characters and story of the novel Red Dragon by Thomas Harris. Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen star as Graham and Lecter respectively. Bryan Fuller developed the series for the network, and David Slade directed the pilot.
