Nearly 15 years after ending his run as middle son Randy on Home Improvement, Jonathan Taylor Thomas has landed a guest starring role on Last Man Standing opposite his former TV dad Tim Allen.
Thomas, also known as JTT by most teenage girls in the late 90s, will play the manager of a restaurant where Kristin (Amanda Fuller), Allen’s on-screen daughter, applies for a job.
Although Thomas has kept a low profile since Home Improvement ended, he had guest starring roles on Smallville, 8 Simple Rules, and Veronica Mars. This appearance on Last Man Standing marks his first TV gig since 2005.
His episode will air either in March or April, and although Thomas is only slated for one episode, this could be the start of his Hollywood comeback. During an Entertainment Weekly photoshoot in 2011, he mentioned his aspirations to work behind the camera. However, he also told EW: “That’s not to say I would never act again. I’m not quite sure to be honest. I still have a passion for TV and film could see myself working in it.”
