It looks like HBO will soon be the place to go for all our fantasy television needs.
George R.R. Martin has just signed a new deal with HBO that amounts to an entirely new series. You know Martin from his fantasy book series, “A Song of Ice and Fire,” which already has been adapted as HBO’s Game of Thrones.
This new two-year agreement means Martin will continue as a co-executive producer of Game of Thrones (which he’s also written a few episodes for), but will also develop and produce an entirely new series for HBO.
What can we expect from a new George R.R. Martin series? Aside from the mega-hit Game of Thrones, Martin served as a producer and writer on Beauty and the Beast (the 1980’s live-action series, not the Disney movie), and also wrote a few episodes of the 1980’s revival of The Twilight Zone. So we can probably look forward to some magic or sci-fi on HBO in the future.
You can catch the season 3 premiere of Game of Thrones on HBO on March 31.
