Hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s 70th Golden Globes Awards ceremony (and dinner) took place yesterday with a TV scorecard significantly tilted toward paid TV channels. HBO and Showtime dominated the evening on the TV-side with five and four awards respectively. After being mostly snubbed by the Emmys, new Hollywood darling Lena Dunham and her HBO show Girls took home the awards for best actress in a comedy and best comedy series. House of Lies star Don Cheadle received the honor for best actor in a comedy while Homeland almost repeated its performance at the Emmys. Broadcast networks who had a single win last year were completely left out of the Golden Globes for what is possibly the first time, confirming the general shift towards cable programming.
