While it has been rumored for a long time that developer CD Projekt Red, the polish masterminds behind The Witcher games, were working on a futuristic, cyberpunk role-playing opus in the vein Deus Ex. It was not until yesterday that the developers broke the silence. Enter Cyberpunk 2077, an upcoming, well… cyberpunk game.
The breathtaking trailer, which is sadly devoid of any actual gameplay footage, features sweeping, sci-fi environments in the vein of those found in the movie Blade Runner. The trailer continues with stunning slow-motion shots of bullets whizzing towards a young woman with body implants. The video description briefly chronicles the background behind these body-implanted individuals dubbed “Psychos”, who overdose on these implants, thus causing their biological body parts to rebel against them along with all organic things around them – sending into a crazed killing frenzy.
Very little else is known about the game at this time. No release date, no announced platforms (although it’s highly likely that it will wind up being a next generation title) and no actual genre has been labeled. For now, all we know is that the trailer is awesome, and hey, it is a new CD Projekt Red game after all.
We expect great things to follow from this interesting new IP.
